A good quality 12 setting service Canteen of Cutlery. The canteen was bought from Harrods probably in 1960. It has been little used and the cutlery is in generally good condition apart from one spoon. It is a 12 place service consisting of 182 items. The silver items are all clearly and identically hallmarked with “G&H” (Gee & Holmes), a crown (Sheffield), a lion (Sterling) and the letter “R” (1959). The handles are finely carved mother of pearl, and the stainless items are Sheffield steel and are marked “Harrods”. The total weight of the cutlery is 8.5 Kilograms including approximately 4.8 kilograms of Sterling silver not including the silver and Mother of pearl pieces .The cutlery is contained in a finely made wooden case with two levels on Queen Anne style legs. The outside has suffered normal wear and tear but this could be reasonably rectified by French polishing.
